The Director Frontend Engineering is accountable for the end-to-end implementation of product-strategy domains across Cockpit and the DKV App. The role ensures consistent, scalable, high-quality digital frontends across devices and journeys, orchestrating cross-domain delivery through strong engineering practices and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities:
- Define and drive the frontend execution strategy and roadmap across Cockpit and App, including sequencing, milestones, dependencies, and alignment with Digital priorities.
- Own end-to-end frontend domain delivery, including frontend applications and corresponding BFFs, ensuring cohesive user flows, performance, reliability, and scalable solutions.
- Lead and orchestrate multiple domain-oriented frontend teams, balancing capacity across frontend, BFF, DevOps, QA, migrations, refactoring, and technical debt.
- Drive consistent frontend and BFF delivery through engineering standards, clear integrations, quality practices, and reliable operational routines.
- Ensure build-and-run accountability and budget ownership across frontend and BFF teams, covering monitoring, incident readiness, lifecycle management, and cost control.
- 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles such as
- Director, Head of Engineering, Senior Engineering Manager, or equivalent.
- Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams and managers in a complex, product-driven environment.
- Frontend delivery leadership for large-scale frontend and BFF delivery across customer-facing solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to translate product and digital strategy into executable frontend and BFF roadmaps.
- Experience managing organizations of 30+ engineers across multiple domains, products, or value streams.
- Strong cross-functional leadership experience partnering with Product, UX, Architecture, Platform, Security, and Operations teams.
- Proven experience driving engineering transformation, organizational scaling, and delivery excellence.
- Cross-team orchestration and capacity management across multiple teams and streams.
- Budget planning, vendor management, cost control, and investment decision experience across engineering teams and delivery initiatives.
- Strong understanding of modern frontend engineering practices, CI/CD, cloud-native development, quality engineering, observability, and DevOps principles.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across executive and senior leadership levels.
- Experience working in international and distributed engineering organizations.
Good to have skills:
- Experience with mobile engineering organizations and cross-platform delivery.
- Experience leading large-scale legacy modernization initiatives.
- Exposure to AI-enabled engineering productivity and software delivery practices.
- Experience in regulated industries such as mobility, payments, fintech, or SaaS platforms.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience is considered an advantage.
- Relevant cloud, engineering leadership, or agile certifications are beneficial but not required.
